Study on the Variation of the Maximum Temperature During Heating Process of a Resistance Heater

Due to the influence of the heat structure and heat transfer process, the average temperature and the maximum temperature of a heating structure are often different. In a resistance-heating system without external temperature sensor, it can only be identified and controlled by using average temperature, via computing the variation of the heater resistance. The control of the maximum temperature is thus relatively difficult because it cannot be directly obtained for a specific location on the heater without additional sensors. The research is to obtain the deterministic relationship between the average temperature and the maximum temperature of a heater by analyzing the temperature distribution of the heater during heating, for the purpose of the precise calculation of the highest temperature during heating process. The research is mainly conducted through experiments, in which, the heating target temperature is set to 350°C, and when the heating body reaches the target temperature and is in a state of equilibrium, the data is obtained through infrared imaging as well as the calculated temperature from the changing resistance. Based on the analysis of temperature distribution data, the relationship between the average temperature of the heater and the maximum temperature is obtained, and the maximum temperature of the heater can be estimated.
