New experience of fuel cell micro CHP operation in Latvia

The European Union has set ambitious decarbonization targets as part of its long-term strategy for 2050. Distributed Micro-CHP systems can play a significant role in decreasing carbon dioxide emissions. Micro-CHP systems are typically installed at or near the point of energy consumption, such as residential or small-scale commercial buildings. This decentralized approach reduces transmission and distribution losses associated with centralized power generation. In 2022, an energy crisis occurred in the European Union, which had a significant impact on the prospects of using micro CHP. In this article, authors share their experience of using the BlueGEN microCHP before and during the energy crisis. The article presents various statistical data and conducts an economic analysis of the effectiveness of using BlueGEN microCHP.
