Analog Resistive Sensing Control for GaN FET’s based Totem Pole PFC

The arrival and advancement of the wide band gap (WBG) semiconductors technology possessing minimal reverse recovery charge and other efficient properties led to the realization of the WBG-based totem-pole power factor correction (PFC) as the most potential candidate for data centers and power supplies applications. In this research, a distinct resistive current sensing approach is used to implement analog control for the GaN-based bridge-less totem-pole PFC, mitigating bulky and expensive sensors requiring complicated control processors. A hardware control board is developed and tested to evaluate the concept.
