Doping Effects of MnO2 Additives on the PZN-PZT Ternary Piezoceramics

High-Qm piezoelectric ceramics have widespread applications in acoustic, ultrasonic sensors, resonators, and piezoelectric actuators due to their efficient energy conversion and transmission capabilities. This study investigated the doping effects of MnO
2
additives on the structures and electrical properties of the 0.3Pb(Zn
1/3
Nb2/3)O
3
-0.7Pb(Zr
0.52
Ti
0.48
)O
3
ternary piezoceramics. The research findings demonstrate that MnO
2
addition enhances the sintering process, resulting in improved density and grain size, reduced dielectric loss, and increased mechanical quality factor. Notably, doping with 0.5 wt. % MnO
2
achieves the highest mechanical quality factor and minimal dielectric loss. These findings provide valuable insights for enhancing the performance of piezoelectric ceramics.
