Performance Evaluation of a VSC-HVDC System Interlinked with a Passive Network

Every day, power transmission encounters numerous difficulties. The demand for power has surged, and because of population growth, urbanization, environmental concerns, and other factors, it is become harder to choose the best route for new lines. For long distances, high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems are more cost-effective than high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission systems. In this paper, a Voltage Source Converter (VSC)-based HVDC link model is developed using MATLAB/SIMULINK. This relatively new technology has a number of benefits, including speed and the ability to control both active and reactive power across a 300-kilometer passive network of 15 KV and 50 Hz from an AC system operating at 400kV and 50 Hz. The outcomes from the system under study demonstrate that high voltage direct current connections enhance the reliability and stability of electrical networks and energy quality.
