Power system stability improvement using shunt FACTS device controller based D-statcom

The world's demand for energy is on the rise, which coincides with worldwide population and industrial expansion, particularly after the global economic recovery that followed the Corona pandemic. Because of this increasing energy demand, there are serious concerns about the reliability and stability of the electricity system. This research paper presents a modeling and investigation to improve the power system's stability under various operating conditions by employing the Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) technology. The MATLAB/SIMULINK/SIMPOWER-SYSTEM software package is used for simulate the test system. In this study, a 25-Kv distribution network's voltage is controlled using the A Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator (D-STATCOM). The D-statcom is a shunt device of the FACTS Groupe commonly used to improve the efficiency of the existing power system and the power system's stability. The results obtained indicate a significant improvement in the voltage stability of the simulation model in the presence of d-STATCOM.
