Square On-Chip Coil for PV Systems

The research of this paper is about the study of the integrated square on-chip coil in DC-DC Buck converter connected to a photovoltaic module. The topology of the coil is chosen for its ability to provide improved performance and high inductance value. The paper presents the integrated coil geometrical and electrical dimensioning. The equivalent electrical circuit of on-chip coil with different added layers is described. The finite elements method is used to illustrate the current density and temperature distribution in the on-chip spiral coil. The DC-DC Buck converter simulation with PV panel is validated using the integrated coil circuit to show its performances. The research of this study combines theoretical analysis, modeling and simulation techniques to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the square on-chip coil topology. The results obtained provide valuable insights into the design and operation of the integrated coil based PV system.
