Use of Kramers-Kronig Transform and Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann Equation to Probe the Molecular Dynamics of Polyamide 10.10 Nanocomposites

A fundamental knowledge of polymer-nanoparticle interactions, and their impact on polymer dynamics, is essential for successfully achieving the desired characteristics of polymer nanocomposites. Within that scope, broadband dielectric spectroscopy (BDS) was used as a tool to investigate the effect of different 2D materials, i.e., graphene oxide (GO), hexagonal-boron nitride (h-BN), and molybdenum disulfide $(\text{MoS}_{2})$ on the molecular dynamics of polyamide 10.10 (PA 1010) nanocomposites at extremely low contents. It was verified that the 2D materials increase the activation energy $(E_{a})$ of the $\alpha$ process in PA 1010, which indicates that the molecular dynamics are restricted by the two-dimensional structure of such particles. This is further evidenced by changes in the shape of the dielectric loss curve during interfacial polarization, which was enhanced for the nanocomposites.
