Quantification of Electric Field Distortion around an Asymmetric Agglomerate Using 3D Reconstruction of TiO2/Epoxy Nanocomposite

The breakdown strength of TiO
2
/epoxy nanocomposites is dependent on the equivalent sphere diameter of the TiO
2
nanoparticle agglomerates. However, the actual agglomerates have asymmetrical shapes. Quantifying the electric field distortion and the induced trap depth around the asymmetric agglomerates is crucial for discussing the breakdown mechanism. This paper describes the method for quantifying the electric field distortion and the induced trap depth around an asymmetrical agglomerate model, which was obtained from a 3D reconstruction of TiO
2
/epoxy nanocomposite.
