Students’ Related Factors’ Effect on Their Performance in Online Learning: A Case Study

This paper aims to give insights, through a case study, into the relationship between students’ performance and internal factors in an online learning context. On a sample of 103 students enrolled in a SPOC created specifically for management students, a binary logistic regression is carried out to examine the relationship between the selected variables. The analysis reveals that internal factors have a positive effect on the improvement of students’ performance as proxied by their progression in overall skills. The findings indicate that motivated and committed students have a higher likelihood of improving their skills. The results also indicate that students’ training has a positive effect on their performance. In addition, the study’s findings show that taking into consideration students’ reactions helps improve their overall skills, which indicates that students’ interactions with their environment can positively affect their performance.
