Stabilized High Voltage Gain With Reduced Common Mode Voltage Using SN-USMC for Remote Green EV Charging

The main contribution of this article is to enhance the voltage gain of an ultra sparse matrix converter (USMC) with the help of the switched impedance network (SN) and also improve the common mode voltage (CMV) profile. Moreover, it produces balanced output voltage even during disturbed wind conditions. The prime focus of this article is to provide information about the selection of active vectors and decide the switching sequence of the space vector modulation technique to reduce the peak–peak CMV. Controlling this switched network without affecting the stable operation of USMC has remained a challenging task, which the authors are carefully handling in this article. This article also discusses the analysis of the proposed converter for various supply frequencies, unbalanced supply, and output power factor operating ranges. Later, the proposed converter is compared with the earlier reported similar converters. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed converter can boost the voltage gain beyond unity with reduced passive components. This would allow a stable, enhanced operating range of wind energy based ac–ac supply systems for EV charging.
