Assessment of the benefits of low-carbon development of the power system under the dual-carbon objective

In the face of increasing climate change problems and energy shortages, there is an urgent need for power systems to explore pathways to low-carbon development. Since low-carbon transition is a global challenge involving huge investments and costs as well as environmental issues, it is crucial for policy makers and investors to study the economic and environmental benefits of low-carbon transition of the power system. This paper first explores the potential for low-carbon development of the power system and the problems in the development process, and proposes corresponding countermeasures for the problems. Then, it proposes methods of low-carbon development from the aspects of power equipment and low-carbon technology, and analyzes the sources of low-carbon benefits under various methods. Finally, an assessment model is constructed to evaluate the low-carbon benefits. The simulation results of the model show that the proposed countermeasures for low-carbon development have better benefits and can provide reference for future development.
