Enhancing Stability and Grid Operation through Probabilistic Clustering and VSC-Based Asynchronous Power System

To enhance power system stability, achieve voltage control, and mitigate failure propagation, the utilization of power system clustering has emerged as a potent approach. However, the majority of existing clustering methodologies are only viable within settings where the power generation and load parameters are explicitly known. Furthermore, effectively accommodating the impact of fluctuating power sources, such as renewable energy sources, within the clustering framework has posed consistent challenges. In response to these constraints, this investigation introduces a spectral clustering algorithm based on probability for electric power system, including a photovoltaic to represent variable sources. Moreover, by harnessing the optimal partitioning outcomes derived from the clustering technique with a voltage source converter (VSC), an asynchronous power system is generated. This study proves that the asynchronous power system shows enhanced stability in comparison to the synchronous system, under contingencies and frequency containment reserve (FCR) control method.
