Comparison Analysis of Current Controllers Applied to a Boost Power Factor Correction Converter

Power factor correction (PFC) is important for minimizing energy losses and optimizing the performance of electrical systems, however, the effectiveness of PFC action heavily relies on the performance of their current control loop. Different control strategies can be applied in this current control loop, however, varying performance is expected. In this context, this paper present a comparison analysis between several different current control strategies applied to a boost PFC converter. Simulation and experiment results are used in this comparison.
