Distribution Network Planning Considering The Value Of Lost Load Using Graph Theory With The Equivalent Uniform Annual Method

Increasing reliability and preventing interruptions in load supply is one of the most effective ways to reduce distribution network costs in the long term. However, increasing reliability in distribution networks requires expenses such as using double-transformer substations instead of single-transformer substations and increasing the number or capacity of transformers; investing in such cases will reduce the costs related to the annual undistributed energy and the value of the lost load. In this article, the network is designed using Genetic Algorithm and Graph Theory and considering various indicators such as geographical dispersion, density, and load growth rate. The optimal size and type of substations are also determined. The proper feeder routing is also done using Graph Theory and the Prim algorithm. These items are selected to minimize the total initial investment and operating costs, and the Annual Uniform Method is used to divide the initial investment cost and compare different plans. Furthermore, the information collected from a real distribution network to better understand the importance of the value of the lost load index and reliability improving economic indicators.
