Continuous and synchronous overvoltage performance of three-phase grid-connected inverter

This paper examines the overvoltage effect of the grid on the voltage, frequency, current, power, and harmonics performance of a 27.6 kW three-phase solar PV grid-connected string inverter. The voltage, current, active power, frequency, and power factor fluctuation during the overvoltage scenario are negligible and are observed to be satisfactory for the grid-connected inverter. The reactive power behavior of the inverter is influenced at the time of the voltage rise and works satisfactorily during the overvoltage scenario. The inverter’s total harmonic voltage and current distortion during the overvoltage scenario are well within the limits of less than 5%, as stated in the IEEE 519-2014 standard at different percentage loadings, viz. 100%, 66%, and 33%.
