Driving Technological Advancements in Formula Student: Developing a Field-Oriented Control Voltage Source Inverter for Enhanced Motor Control

This paper presents the development of a voltage source inverter with field-oriented control (FOC) and space vector modulation (SVM) for enhanced motor control in the context of Formula Student electric racing. The project focuses on designing an innovative inverter to meet the specific requirements of a Formula Student team. The integration of FOC enables pre-cise regulation of the motor's magnetic field orientation, resulting in improved torque control. The paper discusses the design methodology, implementation details, and validation approach of the inverter system, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, present and future testing efforts. By developing this inverter, the project aims to empower the Formula Student team with advanced motor control capabilities, promoting sustainable transportation and showcasing the technical expertise in electric vehicle technology.
