RSSI Based Smart Tollgate Billing System

The objective of the project is to improve the modern accounting device on the toll plazas. In order to monitor vehicles, it is proposed to perform authentication and automatic tolling on highways by implementing RSSI technology (Received Signal Strength Indication). The suggested approach will remove the usage of speed bumps in toll regions and shorten wait times in toll payment lines. In this paper, we suggest a more straightforward method of toll booth billing. The project aims to use a single wireless device to track a vehicle's position in an outdoor environment, reducing tracking errors and applicable to toll booths. In our approach, the receiver gets a signal that says the car has arrived a certain LANE of the toll area as the end user (driver) enters the toll area. At this time, the driver's unique identification (vehicle identifier) is automatically read by the on-board unit installed in each vehicle and collecting the daily road tax. Once the amount has been debited, the owner receives an SMS with the GSM payment details on his mobile device. The system enables automatic check-in of vehicles entering or exiting a freeway, reducing time spent in long queues paying tolls. The project addresses the problems encountered by toll booths and the use of police databases to identify stolen vehicles. The on-board unit has its unique IP address; it is used to find the stolen vehicle by comparing the IP address of the stolen vehicle and the vehicle entering the toll plaza.
