PID control of brake-by-wire system based on giant-magnetostrictive material

In this paper, the giant-magnetostrictive actuator is used as the driving source, and a new type of magnetostrictive disc brake is designed based on its fast response speed and large output force. The GMA driver model is established based on Jiles-Atherton model in Matlab/Simulink environment. Combined with the semi-car model, bilinear tire model and slip rate model, giant-magnetostrictive brake-by-wire system is constructed. The PID controller is designed for the vehicle equipped with the EMB system, and the braking effect of the vehicle under linear braking is observed. The results show that the giant-magnetostrictive actuator can work normally as the actuator of the linear control system, and the PID control effect is ideal and effective.
