Electric Field And Acoustic Sensing Fusion In Detection of Rock Fracturing Processes

This work presents use of electric field sensors in detection of rock cracking. Methods of combining the results with those of other types of sensors, specifically acoustic emission (AE) sensors are studied and evaluated. Rock samples were compressed using a hydraulic press, and the acoustic and electromagnetic signals accompanying the compression process were recorded. A correlation between both types of signals was examined.
