Determining Relationship Between Load Type and Its Components in Distribution System Reconfiguration

Power losses, voltage deviations, line failures, and maintenance costs can be effectively reduced by reconfiguring power systems. Thus, the configuration of the distribution network should be modified via line switching to achieve minimum losses, better voltage stability, lower fault currents, and cheaper maintenance actions, where load power plays an important role in this process. Therefore, the demand side should be modeled more accurately to show the behavior of electricity consumers. The load is not constant and varies with the voltage magnitude changes, and this variation depends on the type of consumer. On the other hand, each load can be presented by its constant-power, constant-current, and constant-impedance components. Therefore, determining the relationship between these components and the load type will be helpful when one of the load components or exponential values is available. This important issue has not been investigated in other specialized studies in the reconfiguration field. Therefore, this paper mathematically formulates the relationship between load components and consumer type. The formulations presented in this study introduce a more flexible and efficient reconfiguration framework.
