Study of the Magnitude of the Electromagnetic Field Created by High-Power Electrical Machines on Vessels with Electric Propulsion and Selection of Protective Measures for the Electro-Technical Personnel

The paper focuses on the occupational safety of electrical personnel working with respect to the influence of the electromagnetic fields on ships. These staff members encounter the difficulty of operating in limited areas, encompassed by diverse electrical machinery functioning at different voltage and current levels. The vessel's electrical system energizes various functionalities, leading to the creation of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) at varying frequencies, including those emitted by radio-communication and navigation tools. The study's goal is to examine the EMFs operating at a low frequency of 60 Hz, generated by powerful electrical devices on a passenger ship utilizing electric propulsion systems. This examination seeks to assess the safety of the electrical personnel working on the ship. A selection of protective measures for the personnel for limiting the influence of electromagnetic fields has been proposed.
