Use of Control Charts for Quality Assurance of Automated Measurement Systems

Periodic zero and span checks are conducted on an automated measurement system (AMS) to check drift and precision. These checks are necessary to demonstrate that the AMS is in control during its operation so that it continues to function within the required specifications for uncertainty. The obtained results are evaluated using control charts. A manual or automated control chart may be used, which allows separate or combined determination of drift and precision.
