Analysis of Mercury Content in Inflows and Outflows of Lignite Coal-Fired Thermal Power Plant

Mercury emitted from the direct combustion of lignite coal may be harmful to the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the mercury contents in the inflows and outflows to select proper measures for reducing mercury emissions. One thermal power plant burning lignite coal from the Maritsa-East basin was researched for analyzing contents of Hg in feed coal, slag, fly ash, limestone, gypsum, and flue gases. A mercury mass balance is prepared for a power unit from this lignite coal-fired thermal power plant.
