A Tunable Morris-Lecar Spiking Neuron in CMOS

This article describes a tunable Morris-Lecar spiking neuron in 180 nm CMOS. The spiking frequency is adjusted by changing the body voltage of a reset transistor. The tuning sensitivity is 47.85 kHz/V and can compensate for ±10% variations in the supply voltage. The proposed design consumes 1.06 fJ/spike and has a normalized area of 1,549. The spiking frequency with a synchronization current of 10 pA is 18.37 kHz.
