Abstract:
Irrigation plays a crucial role in agriculture, hence adopting smart, precise, and reliable irrigation techniques have become quite important for a bunch of reasons like water conservation, efficiency, improving crop yields, environment sustainability, etc. This paper presents a prototypical design that will help to optimize agriculture by maneuvering a smart wireless farm/garden watering system for remotely watering and monitoring it from any place in the world. This approach utilizes a GSM module and Arduino Uno to enable SMS-based control and real-time data acquisition. To facilitate data acquisition, temperature, humidity, and moisture sensors are integrated with the system. The smart irrigation system successfully responds to SMS commands, activating or deactivating the pump as desired. The collected temperature, humidity, and moisture data are significant for deciding when and how much to irrigate. SMS-based control ensures wide accessibility, even in areas with limited internet connectivity. Implementing this GSM-based irrigation system would greatly benefit India’s agriculture sector, improving the livelihood of its predominantly agrarian population.
