Simulation Analysis of Crimping Process of Strain Clamp-ACSR System

Strain clamp as an important connection component in transmission lines, its connection performance with the conductor on the safe operation of transmission lines is of great significance. In this paper, a finite element simulation model was constructed to simulate the crimping and stretching process of the strain clamp-conductor system under the standard crimping process as well as under the insufficient crimping length, to analyze the tensile load carrying capacity and the form of failure of the system, and the simulation results are compared with the experimental results to verify the accuracy of the model. The results show that as the crimp length decreases, the tensile properties of the system decrease and the mode of failure changes from aluminum wires fracture to steel cores fracture.
