Effective Policies for Managing Electric Vehicle Charging at Parking

Growth of Electric Vehicles (EV) has brought new opportunities to the transportation sector. However, planning and managing EV charging infrastructure remain a challenge. This paper investigates how EV enabled parking lots, equipped with chargers, can be such that the need for charging and parking can be satisfied. This work offers two significant contributions i.e., a.) Road map for converting parking lots into smart EV friendly facilities, including the introduction of three innovative parking strategies for managing EV. These strategies can assist parking lot operators in managing both conventional and electric vehicles and the second b.) Evaluation method that utilizes real-world data and simulations to measure the effectiveness of different parking policies in meeting the needs of EV.
