An Accurate MTPA Control for IPMSM Considering Variations of Motor Parameters and Temperatures

Due to the inherent nonlinearity of motor parameters, employing constant motor values can lead to a reduction in motor performance and electromagnetic torque. This paper presents an improved approach by introducing a fitting model for the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) that considers variations in magnet flux linkage and stator inductance parameters caused by magnetic material saturation and temperature effects. Through direct online calculation coupled with finite element analysis (FEA), more precise calculations can be achieved for the maximum torque-per-ampere (MTPA) trajectory. Extensive simulations confirm the significant improvement in the accuracy of torque and MTPA phase advance angle estimations. Thus, enhance motor performance with the proposed accurate control method.
