A Proposed Strategy For The Optimal Control Of Regenerative Braking In Electric Vehicle Based On Driving Style

This document presents a proposal an assisted control strategy to improve the regenerative braking system (RBS) of conventional electric vehicles. The proposed controller estimates a linear model using experimental data and vehicle dynamics, generating compensations in the target torque provided by the Integrated Brake Assist Unit (iBAU) and Pressure Source Unit (PSU) using model predictive control (MPC) concepts. The controller's objective is to track the driver's speed during braking while maximizing the current recovered by the RBS. The effectiveness of the proposed assisted braking torque controller is demonstrated through simulations using MATLAB/Simulink.
