Evaluation of Permanent Magnet Motor Performances using Different Driving Cycles for Electric Vehicles

This paper presents a methodology for designing traction machines in electric vehicles that aims to achieve maximum efficiency while satisfying the necessary torque-speed requirements for selected driving cycles. The current study encompasses multiple driving cycles, specifically the US Environmental Protection Agency's (FTP) Test Schedule, the Highway Fuel Test (HWFET) Test Schedule, Dynamic Artemis Urban Driving Schedule, and Artemis 150. The suggested design method is based on deducing how a particular driving cycle disperses energy. Using a method called k-means clustering The design optimization process may be greatly sped up by characterizing the traction machine's energy efficiency at representative times during the driving cycle. The approach permits optimization with regard to these sample points, as opposed to calculating the design optimization throughout the full driving cycle, which may be time-consuming. this approach facilitates optimization in relation to these selected representative points. The capacity to considerably diminish computation time and enhance energy efficiency renders it a valuable instrument for the purpose of designing and optimizing traction machines in electric vehicles.
