Analysis of Business Model and Development of Virtual Power Plant in the Context of New Power System

The development of new power system has become the future trend. Under the new situation of power generation, transmission, distribution and electricity consumption, virtual power plant is an important construction direction for the country to carry out the construction of new power system and achieve the goal of “carbon peak and carbon neutral”. Firstly, this paper analyzes the development status of virtual power plant at home and abroad, and compares analyzes the development characteristics of virtual power plant at home and abroad from three aspects of aggregate resource type, policy, market maturity and business model. Then, the business model of virtual power plant is divided into three different types: European model, American model and Chinese model, and the main characteristics and similarities and differences of the three business models are expounded respectively. Secondly, the problems and challenges existing in the development of virtual power plant are analyzed. Finally, the development of virtual power plant is discussed from four dimensions: power market, technology, market mechanism and business model.
