Assessment for Frequency Support Capability of Wind Turbine from Energetic Perspective

As the integration of large-scale wind power into the grid leads to a decrease in frequency stability, existing standards mandate that wind turbine (WT) must possess the capability to actively support the system frequency. Accurately assessing the frequency support potential of WT at different operation sates can provide a reference for setting control parameters. Therefore, this paper derives the frequency support capability of WT when they participate in frequency control from an energy perspective. Firstly, an analytical expression for the energy distribution of WT during the frequency regulation process is established, with an analysis of operation state deviation. Secondly, factors affecting the frequency support capability are analyzed. Finally, simulation using MATLAB/Simulink software is performed to validate the accuracy of the proposed assessment method.
