An innovative energy system integrating carbon capture and waste-to-energy based on energy cascade utilization

An innovative system has been proposed that allows waste-to-energy plant and coal-fired power plant to complement each other, to improve the efficiency of the utilization of high-grade-thermal energy and reduce the heat requirements for carbon capture. In the innovative system, the heat from the incineration of municipal solid waste is used wisely to heat the reheat steam from coal-fired power plant and to provide heat for the carbon capture system. Based on energy analysis, the results indicate that the integrated system improves the net electric efficiency by 0.66% and increases electricity generation by 5.39 MW.
