Synthesis Analysis of Energy Intensity Dependence for Tandem Mills Thin-Plate Rolling on Various Grade Emulsols Rheological Properties

The basic rheological and physicochemical properties of rolling emulsions from different manufacturers and their influence on energy consumption during cold rolling of thin plate on tandem mills are considered. A generalized mathematical model of the influence of rheological and physicochemical properties on energy consumption during cold rolling of thin plates on four-, five- and six-stand quarto tandem mills has been compiled. The descending relation between the kinematic viscosity of the rolling emulsion and the specific energy consumption for tandem thin strip cold rolling mills is analytically calculated and shown. Theoretical graphic dependencies are constructed, showing the general trend of reducing the specific energy consumption for rolling for tandem mills with an increase in the viscosity of emulsols. An increase in the kinematic viscosity of the rolling emulsion by 10 m

/s can reduce specific energy consumption at a four-stand mill by 0.07 kWh/t (0.82%), at a five-stand mill by 5.81 kWh/t (1.77%), and at a six-stand mill by 4.70 kWh/t (1.54%). Thus, a higher energy intensity of the five-stand mill was revealed in comparison with the four-stand and six-stand mill.
