Study of the Ionizing Radiation Influence on the Induction Motor Main Circulation Pumps Electrical Insulation

This article describes the study of the effect of ionizing radiation on the electrical insulation of induction electric motors VAZ 215/109-6AMO5 [1] of the main circulation pumps GTsN-195 of the primary cooling circuit of the nuclear reactor VVER-1000 NPP. There are 13 power units with this type of reactors in operation in Ukraine. The main requirement for the insulation system of powerful electric motors is that it must withstand operational impacts within the required resource. The study was carried out in order to determine the reliability of the operation of the stator windings of electric motors under the influence of ionizing radiation. The conducted studies of electrical insulation against the effects of γ-radiation are aimed at developing the simplest test methods, which will later be used to create durable and reliable insulation systems for the main circulation pumps of nuclear power plants. The purpose of this improvement is to ensure the safety and efficient operation of pumps under operating conditions at nuclear power plants.
