Study of the Bending Process for Conductive Electric Busbars

Conductive electric busbars are shipped and transported in the form of straight metal strips of various thicknesses and widths. But, while designing and assembling the power equipment, it is often required to carry out fitting work, aimed at busbar bending and perforating. The article presents the theoretical analysis results of the bending process for a finite-size strip, with determining the analytical expressions for the bending moment of the elastoplastic deformation zone. The thickness and material of the plate prove to affect the elastic unloading after removal of the applied force. So, it must be considered while bending the busbars to the designed angle. Also, the bending moment is substantiated to increase with increasing the product of the plate width by the square of its thickness. The article develops and provides the practical recommendations how to choose and select the equipment for the production of bent electrotechnical busbars.
