Status of Multipole Magnets for Hefei Advanced Light Facility

The design of the Hefei Advanced Light Facility storage ring is based on the utilization of numerous short and high-field magnets with relatively large apertures. This presents challenges in optimizing the design. To tackle this issue, a new optimization program was developed using the conformal mapping and nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II to determine the shape of the poles. This program ensures that all error multipole components within the good field region are maintained at a level of
$10^{-5}$
in the physical design. Moreover, this method can be applied to different types of magnets. Considering that the high gradient quadrupole is commonly employed in ultralow emittance storage rings, it is vital to verify the algorithm's capability for achieving appropriate poles in this scenario. As a result, a 90 T/m quadrupole prototype was successfully designed and measured using this method.
