Time-Space Characteristics Simulation and Analysis of Acoustic Channel in Shallow Waters

In this paper, the spatial distribution of acoustic transmission loss in coastal water and the inland lake channel of China is simulated and compared by using a ray model based on real Sound Velocity Profile (SVP) data. The analysis focused on the regional, spatial, and seasonal characteristics of sound propagation, and the time-space characteristics of the acoustic channel in Zhanghe River are analyzed based on the experimental data. The simulation results indicate that the differences in geographical location, season, and source depth cause significant changes in the acoustic propagation characteristics of shallow water channels. The experimental data indicate that the space-time structure of channel impulse response (CIR) and transmission function is obviously uncertain due to numerous influencing factors. The research results can provide data support for underwater positioning, detection, and communication sonar performance prediction in shallow waters.
