Spatial Distribution Characteristic Measurement of Target Magnetic Anomaly with Vector Sensor

Magnetic anomaly measurement is an emerging research topic in recent years and has found its applications in both military and civil domains. As an important target property, magnetic anomaly is considered as a reliable cue to perceive and confirm of the appearance of magnetic target. Theoretical studies on magnetic anomaly treat magnetic target as a magnetic dipole with which to model the spatial distribution of target magnetic anomaly. However, concerning its measurement in practice, it is still a challenging task owing to the severe interference caused by the complex environment. Motivated by this, in this paper we propose a measurement system for target magnetic anomaly spatial distribution characteristics based on three-axis fluxgate vector sensor. Extensive experiments in real world scenes are conducted to verify the effectiveness the proposed method and promising results are obtained to provide new insights into the problem from a practical perspective. Through this work, we provide a systematic solution approach for the measurement and analysis of magnetic anomaly spatial distribution characteristics, which may hopefully find its potential applications in related fields.
