A Ultrasonic Localization Technology for Partial Discharge Based on Beamforming Algorithm

Long term partial discharge will gradually develop into dendritic discharge, leading to surface flashover, causing insulation degradation and continuous expansion of insulation degradation, thereby reducing the service life and insulation performance of insulation materials, and even potentially breaking down insulation materials, causing large-scale power accidents. Partial discharge is both a symptom and a cause of insulation degradation. This article utilizes the advantages of strong electromagnetic interference resistance of ultrasonic detection technology and proposes a sound source redirection technology based on beamforming algorithm. It comprehensively considers the sound field distribution and the characteristics of the substation ultrasonic sound source, reconstructs the sound field distribution, achieves sound source redirection, and improves the accuracy of partial discharge positioning.
