Study on Localized Substitution of Alkylbenzene Insulating Oil

Oil filled cables have the advantages of high compressive strength, stable performance and long service life, they are still the first choice for ultra-high voltage applications such as submarine communications cable, alkylbenzene insulating oil is the most widely used impregnant in oil filled cable, but its production technology has long been controlled by several foreign oil companies, in order to break the monopoly, save procurement time and funds, and reduce operating costs, conducting research on the localization of alkylbenzene insulation oil has become a highly concerned issue for domestic cable operation units. This article starts from the chemical, physical, and electrical properties of alkylbenzene insulation oil, and conducts experiments, analysis, and comparison of various performance indicators between domestic oil and imported oil, providing important theoretical basis and technical support for the use of alkylbenzene insulation oil by domestic oil-filled cable operators. The research results indicate that the main composition, density, flash point, and relative dielectric constant of domestic oil and imported oil are relatively similar, but there are significant differences in their acid value, kinematic viscosity, breakdown voltage, dielectric loss factor, and volume resistivity. Overall, domestic oil has superior comprehensive performance compared to imported oil. Therefore, it is feasible for domestic cable operators to choose domestic alkylbenzene insulation oil instead of imported alkylbenzene insulation oil.
