ePixHR10k 2M – A 2M Pixel X-ray Detector at 5,000 Frame Per Second for LCLS-II

The tender X-ray beamline at LCLS-II, a Free Electron Laser (FEL) X-ray light source, is set to start operations at SLAC National laboratory in 2023 exploring x-ray energies from 2 to 4 keV. The beamline requires a camera system with 2 Mega pixels capable of sustaining readout rates higher than 5,000 frames per second compatible with the matrix of the ePixHR10k sensor/ASIC modules. The detector also needs to have a segmented focal plane with an adjustable gap between top and bottom planes that are capable of remote positioning, operate in vacuum and have high quantum efficiency. We present in this paper a detector called ePixHR10k 2M that can fulfil these requirements. The camera design is based on a shingled tile arrangement to minimize gaps among rows of detector modules.
