Implementation of Sostek Application with Curriculum Intervention for the Development of Sustainability Competencies of Graduating Students

This research explores a quantitative study investigating the role of an application designed for a curriculum intervention to promote Sustainability competencies in graduating design students. It occurred at Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico, in the two Product Design classes ("groups") that graduating students took in the February-June 2023 semester. In June, the two classes had presentations on the Sostek application (APP) and received a survey. The purpose was to determine the role of the Sostek application in graduating students' development of sustainability competencies. The results came from 39 graduating students through an online form, and 17 of these 39 students answered the entire questionnaire. We analyzed the collected data by using the Jamovi application. The analyzed linear regression results show that the Sostek application had a significant correlation in statistical terms with graduating students' development of sustainability competencies. This investigation offers guidelines to educational institutions on effectively educating and preparing graduates for 21st-century sustainability competencies in a world increasingly requiring it.
