Artificial Intelligent Based Assessment of Greywater Treatment Using Filters with Dynamic Systems

Greywater (GW) accounts for 50-80% of indoor domestic water usage and is the wastewater discharge from bathtubs, showers, kitchen and hand wash basins, and laundry. It symbolizes water that may be captured for usage at the home level. Urban gardens in middle-class to wealthy suburbs and food gardens in low-income peri urban and rural regions both employ GW on an informal basis in India to complement irrigation water consumption. This occurs in both urban and food gardens. However, owing to microbiological and chemical contamination, the reuse of greywater for irrigation without any considerable pre-treatment presents a potential danger to both human and environmental health. This research looked at the viability of a low-cost greywater treatment (GWT) system for residential reuse of greywater. Filtration, flocculation, sedimentation, and disinfection are all possible with the system's distinct units of barrels. Greywater flows and concentrations vary widely, making it difficult to assess and forecast how onsite treatment filters would react to different loading regimes. The effectiveness of 0.6 m x 0.2 m (height x diameter) filters made of activated charcoal, sand, broken bricks, and other materials in reducing biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), turbidity, total dissolved solids (TDS), and faecal coliforms under various loading regimes was examined. Broken brick filters reduced COD by 74 to 40 percent, whereas charcoal and sand filters reduced COD 83%, respectively. Overall, the charcoal filters could handle both high HLR and high OLR, but the broken brick filters could only handle high OLR. When handling heavy and fluctuating loads, both broken brick and charcoal filters had a better capacity than sand filters. According to the study's findings, the GWT system has the potential to be a viable and promising low-cost, low-tech treatment system that can be operated and maintained by non-experts.
