Novel Approach for PAPR Reduction in FBMC-OQAM Using Enlipping

Filter Bank Multi-Carrier using Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (FBMC-OQAM) is a promising scheme for future 6G wireless networks. Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) is among the major drawbacks and challenges of multi-carrier compared with single-carrier schemes. Tone Reservation (TR) is an attractive PAPR scheme because of its simplicity. however, applying TR in FBMC-OQAM is considered more challenging when compared with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). In this work, we present a novel approach for reducing PAPR in FBMC-OQAM using the innovative enlipping based TR technique. Enlipping reimagines PAPR reduction by uniformly setting all signal amplitudes to their maximum value while preserving phase information. Furthermore, we explore its application in the context of sliding window TR; we explored the performance of enlipping within this context and investigate its impact on PAPR reduction efficiency. According to the simulation results, with the use of enlipping, better PAPR performance and fast convergence can be achieved compared to traditional clipping-based methods.
