Development of a Three-phase AC/DC Converter for Charging Batteries Including Electric Vehicles

Currently, the rapid development of electric transport has led to the fact that the development of charging stations for electric vehicles is an urgent task. This paper describes the development of a three-phase AC/DC converter with output voltage and current regulation, intended for charging batteries including electric vehicles and backup batteries in mining industry. The converter consists of the following components: transformer, uncontrolled rectifier, smoothing filter, pulse converter, output filter. The paper presents a model of the converter in the Matlab Sumulink software as well as shows the time dependences and the harmonic composition of the input voltage in various operating modes of the converter.
