Determination of Magnetic Equivalent Circuit Parameters of Transformer for Saturation Modes

There is a method to draw a transformer magnetic equivalent circuit based on the geometric parameters and magnetization curve of the steel magnetic core. A computer model based on the magnetic equivalent circuit can quickly and accurately calculate the different operating modes of the transformer. However, there are difficulties in determining the values of the magnetic reactance responsible for the magnetic leakage fluxes outside the magnetic core. This paper describes an algorithm for determining the missing parameters of the transformer magnetic equivalent circuit, using the COMSOL Multiphysics program. However, using COMSOL directly for calculations of transients in electrical circuits is not advisable, because the time for such calculations is significantly higher than for the methodology of magnetic equivalent circuit. Therefore, COMSOL or a similar program is proposed to be used only for specifying the parameters of the equivalent circuit, named the magnetic leakage reactance.
