The Influence of the Glass Melt Pool Height on the Bottom-Heated Induction Melters with Cold Crucible Characteristics

The article object is the method of induction melting in cold crucible (IMCC) with bottom-heated melter (CCIM-BH) applying to radioactive waste vitrification. The integral and distributed characteristics of melting are studied using 2D electromagnetic and hydrodynamic numerical simulation. Particularly the effect of melt pool height on the melter characteristics is studied. The necessity of further research of the other parameters effect on the melting process is shown. It is necessary to describe the parameters providing higher efficiency of the glass melt induction heating and CCIM-BH reliability.
