AI Based Weed Locating and Deweeding using Agri-Bot

Farming, a fundamental aspect of human society, has evolved significantly over time. In the modern era, there’s a growing emphasis on natural products and reducing harmful chemicals to maintain soil and plant health, crucial for sustainable agriculture. This paper introduces an innovative approach to farming by integrating technology with agriculture. It presents the design of an AI-based Agri-Bot for detecting and eliminating weeds on farmlands without resorting to harmful chemicals. The Agri-Bot employs high-intensity lasers for precise weed termination, targeting only the weed tissue. The integration of software and hardware components is detailed, including image processing for weed identification. The bot’s design parameters, controllers, and hardware components are elaborated upon. Various components used in the Agri-Bot, including the Jetson Nano controller, Intel RealSense camera, Rhino motor, laser module, stepper motor, LIDAR, and more, are described in detail. These components work together to create a powerful and efficient Agri-Bot. Image processing plays a pivotal role in the Agri-Bot’s operation. A convolutional neural network (CNN) is trained using a dataset of farmland images to accurately identify weeds. The paper provides insights into the working of the Agri-Bot, outlining how it utilizes LIDAR for mapping, cameras for weed detection, and AI for decision-making.
